So in the end we love these blackout blinds. We have ordered numerous blinds from select blinds and have been very pleased with all of them. They are a bit pricey (even with the perpetual 45% off plus extra 10% that you can usually find). But they stand by there product - we have had only one blind fail, we went through their warranty process, and they shipped us a replacement right away.
It seems that these blinds are made overseas, so the time to arrive after they were shipped seemed excessively long. It took us about a month overall to receive them after we ordered them.
My one minor issue with these blackout blinds were that they were slightly too large for the window when they arrived. I carefully measured the window's width and height, but I think because of the "true fit guarantee", they made the blinds slightly large. They are adjustable to fit the window width in case they are slightly small and could have been installed in about 10 minutes if that were the case, but even on the smallest setting they had to be knocked into place and damaged the trim slightly. The height wouldn't fit at all. My choices were to contact the company, where I'm sure they would have stood by their warranty but it would have caused additional delays, or to trim them myself. Overall it took me about 2 hours to do what should have been a 10 minute install.
One other minor note - the instructions did not include how to set and reset the adjustable width and I had to figure that out on my own.

I was so excited to order these shades for our home. All 6 windows I ordered were similar in size, one came with hinges not working properly creating a larger gap than the other 5 windows. It's been weeks, and hours of time of trying to get this resolved. Still haven't heard anything back, very disappointing for how much money we spent.

The material is high quality

The price is great and material is beautiful. I bought the Rustic Americana Roman Shades. But there needs to be more accurate pictures of what the item looks like without the valance they offer. The pictures don't show there are two exposed staples on the left side of the top piece which locks into place in the window sash and you can see the bracket extender on the right hand side. I thought there would be two extenders, one on each side to center the blind but there is only one on the right side. But I don't think that is really an issue if the valance will cover that piece. I called about this and the only resolution was for me to re-order another set of blinds, so the product ended up costing me double in the end. Why they could not just make the top piece again and add the valance is beyond me, because the top piece velcos onto the rest of the shade. I'm waiting for the replacements now, so I can't say what it will look like yet. Please ignore the paint and chips, we are in the process of renovating but I wanted to test the shade.

The Installation

The Blinds laid on the guest bedroom bed after they were received. I opened them for the install directions. Once digested; tools gathered; measurements placed work began. First clip installed the other seven a snap. With your daughter assisting and little Tucker)140lbs) supervising the blinds where up in no time. One unexpected feature, the room darkening blinds appears to make the room quieter. Thank You!

These blinds are expensive, as most are, but they are heavy duty construction and materials. I bought from this company after a competitor's product fell apart after a few years. It's not money I wanted to spend, but it is a quality product with great service, and I expect the shade to last many years. You can feel the heft in the construction when you operate it, which gives me a greater feeling of satisfaction than I expected from simply opening and losing a shade.

Blinds harder to install than expected

Seemed like the blind would be an easy task. Wrong -- Watched on utube several instructions sight. Still could not figure out how to install it. Looked and relook the instructions that was with the blind.
Finally firgued out the instruction sheet was exactly backwards of the installation. I did it my way and it worked wonderfully. Took approximately three and a half hours to install. But very happy with the product

From picking out to measuring to ordering was flawless. Shipping was quick and installation wasn't difficult. The only "negative" would be how these specific blinds function and look. Perhaps I should have investigated the overall function and look of these blinds before purchasing, but the opening and closing function is tedious. If you barely lift them after pulling them all the way down, they will open. I've gotten use to it but it still isn't ideal. When the blinds are pulled all the way up, they look very messy unless I take time to straighten them (but on a busy morning with children, that often doesn't happen).

We ordered a large (88 inches across) light filtering roller blind for our living room sliders, which face due south. The quality of the blind is excellent, it filters just the right amount of light and the material is top notch. On top of that, installation was a snap, it took me less than ten minutes.

The shade came with a broken piece and it is much narrower than it should be. I have complained already a few times since we received it but had no response yet. They claim the supplier has not responded yet and they just apologize and promised me to receive the reply in 1-2 days everytime I can but it never happened so far. I started to wonder now if they are willing to take responsibility and do something about it. I certainly do not recommend anyone to order the solar shades from them.

Design was very helpful with suggestions for type of blinds for each room and colors. Main suggestion is specific video installation videos by the staff, particular Hunter Davis aluminum blinds. Design had no idea about these so I found video by the manufacturer. I also used shorter screws and only one on each side was more than enough for strength. Highly recommend is you can measure and use a drill.

Directions

The product was fine and in the end, it installed well but the directions were not good! I called the info line (the person on the other end wasn't a native English speaker and was hard to understand) and she directed me to YouTube videos I had already watched —and those weren't good either! Updated, improved directions would be helpful.
