Absolutely awful customer service
February 21, 2025

My last five orders were a catastrophe, from delayed deliveries to overcharging for labor and inventory mistakes like showing 144 of something and get there and they only had 8 right now I am waiting for another delayed delivery...time to trade in my HD card for a Lowes card.

Complete lack of consideration
February 7, 2025

Ordered an oven to be delivered. They canceled delivery 30 minutes before they were to arrive. Now, instead of having to take one day off, I need to take two. They have refused to accommodate my schedule, even though the cancelation is their fault. The woman dispatching made it very clear that she did not care.

Rude staff
January 26, 2025

I dealt with their location in Moncton and Fredericton NB from 2008 - 2019. I moved to Moncton in 2019 and purchased everything for my home and all my customers until some of the staff there started getting very rude. I never returned to this location for 3 years and decided to go back and maybe they would have new staff that were pleasant to deal with. So in August i started purchasing my supplies at this location and today was the third time I got treated rudely by one of their staff members. The guy in the flooring department did not want too help me at all. I said to him if this is such a big deal then maybe I should go to another hardware store. He told me to go. So Home Depot I did just that and went to RONA and got my materials. And what a difference, I walked him and was greeted by one of their friendly staff and they assisted me with everything I need. Loaded it on my truck and thanked me for shopping there. So just too let you know that I spent $1200.00 today in their store and that is where I will be doing business for my customers and I don't care if you are giving stuff away I will never set foot in any of your locations again.

Deactivation of Home Depot gift cards
December 16, 2024

Home Depot's anti fraud unit deactivated our $500 gift card. The stated reason is that $500 cards are unusual. We have worked with them for ten months, but they have yet to refund our money. We have provided copies of bank statements and cash register slips. We have followed all requirements, but nothing. If you value your money avoid Home Depot gift cards

Return policy
December 11, 2024

I paid cash for a tube of Gorilla Super Glue Gel. It cost about $6.00. After approximately 1 to 2 weeks I couldn't find the receipt. I returned the glue because it was dried up inside. I suspect it had been on the shelf for a long time. I asked for a store credit as I wanted to buy a different brand of glue. I was informed that without a receipt and because I paid cash they would not take it back. What a policy. My advice is to shop at LOWES OR ANY OTHER HARDWARE STORE.

Appliance Package
December 4, 2024

I chose whirlpool appliance package. The installers left a huge mess. They didn't get my signature saying I inspected every thing. The microwave was installed incorrectly and had to be reinstalled. They left in a hurry not giving me an opportunity to check things.
I began thinking I had received open box or returned items. Do to dings and scratches.
The oven has never worked properly causing an undercooked Thanksgiving meal.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
October 2, 2024

As our refrigerator went out while on vacation we needed an item immediately. In the mean time we salvaged what we could to store in an ice chest. We were promised delivery within 3 days we received a call that we would not receive the refrigerator for 6 days. In the meantime we are living out of an ice chest. As we live in the Pacific northwest, we were told that we could not get delivery due to a hurricane. As we all know the PNW is known for our "hurricanes"...NOT. There is seriously something wrong if your supply chain for the pacific northwest is affected by a hurricane on the SOUTH EAST COAST. When asked if I could by the floor model we were refused. As I have a printed manifest from the store with a promise date and they are now in breach of contract. When asked if we could buy the floor model we were refused. We are currently living out of ice chests we were told "oh well you'll just have to wait". My husband & I have agreed to NEVER shop at home depot again. Customer service is NON EXISTANT. Basically told to suck it up and deal with it.

My dishwasher broke so I ordered a new one from Home Depot. I waited a week for delivery. I was looking forward to finally getting this done. The installers showed up with the new washer, and I left them in the kitchen to return to working from home. Immediately I could hear them like there were on some phone call. I thought nothing of it, but apparently they took "issue" with the water valve under my sink that my current dishwasher was using. I did not understand the problem as it worked fine. After a few minutes they explained because since there was a slight amount of corrosion on the valve they could not install the dishwasher. I would either have to get a plumber to replace the valve and reschedule the installation, call an appliance place to install it, or return the unit and start over. I opted to schedule a plumber and rescheduled another installation attempt for a week out.

So the plumber comes out and tells me that he will replace it if I want, but there is nothing wrong with that valve. Further, he tells me that with dishwashers and Home Depot this is common and it actually happened to his own mother. He said he tried to tell the installers the valve was fine, but they would not budge. He then told them they could turn the water off to the entire house instead, nope not acceptable. They would not let the customer turn the water off at the house or at the valve nor would they let the customer sign a waiver. So UNLESS YOU HAVE A HOUSE THAT WAS JUST BUILD THE DAY BEFORE WITH SHINY NEW EVERYTHING they won't install your dishwasher.

So the valve was perfectly fine for a reasonable person to install a new dishwasher. I have been in my house 20 years and had bought dishwashers from Sears and Lowes, and this was the only time the valve was a big issue. I am attaching a photo - you judge. It is still solid and works fine.

The sketchy part of this was the original installer waited til his co worker had stepped away to tell me that he COULD in fact install the dishwasher that evening, after his shift ended for $200 under the table. So I paid Home Depot already for installation, which they lied and said they could not do it because of the valve, but the valve was apparently fine because this guy would have done it that night for another $200. I passed on it as this whole operation is shady, sleazy, and I doubt this random guy was bonded and insured nor did I think he'd warranty his work.

So the local plumber who I hired to come out to replace the "broken valve" said the valve was fine, and he ended up installing the dishwasher. But this is not the end of it. With the dishwasher Home Depot had left TWO cords - the junction box one for hardwiring dishwasher - which is what I intended to do - and a cord that plugged into a household outlet. The junction box cord was defective. Dishwasher would NOT power on. Home Depot is useless but Bosch will be sending us a brand new one. So to get me through while I wait for this replacement cord comes, the plumber connected it to the plug in one temporarily so I would not have to keep handwashing dishes yet another week.

I am beyond frustrated with this installation experience. I had them install a built in microwave and except for the fact they did not leave me my product booklet, that went fine. Anything that requires them to hook up to water - dishwasher/Washer/Fridge with ice maker - expect them to come up with a fake phony reason to NOT be able to honor your install appointment. YOU will have to spend ANOTHER $200 replacing the working valve if it is not shiny enough for them, BUT maybe, since the installer knows this policy is a bunch of BS, maybe you can pay the installer $200 - ON THE SIDE WINK WINK - and under the table they will install it.

I view this piece as a total SCAM. I will never buy another appliance from Home Depot ever again. I have relayed to 4 Home Depot customer service people so far my experience with the valve and the "under the table" guy and they just stay silent - like a "So what this is normal for Home Depot". So the COMPANY IS CONDONING THIS. They don't care - they just want to sell you a dishwasher. They don't care if you plan to have it one day but in realilty have to call in plumbers, electricians, whatever fake reason their install team can come up with to NOT do the planned install. Expect to wait at least a week longer and have to go through the expense and aggravation of getting something that is not broke fixed because their scam artist installers do not think it looks like it came out of a plumbing store.

SKIP THEM.

Defect necw weashing machine
August 15, 2024

We Bought a Samsung washer at Home Deport,on Aug. 13,2024. First load of laundry it stopped half way, called HD to return it, they said they would not take it back, Samsung had to take it back. Samsung said we repair it, but if you want to return it, you have to bring it to Home Depot. Home depot has a 48 hour return on Appliances, even though we had called on the same day when the machine was delivered, and the first load did not make it, that did not count for Home depot.
Now we have been waiting 4 days already on a call back from Samsung to find out when they will send a repair person, in the meantime we have a mountain of laundry laying around. Nice job, Home depot!

Self professed "manager" Sergio Souless
July 18, 2024

This review is regarding an individual who claims he is a manager at Home Depot Santa Fe, NM. Although there seems to be no proof that this fella even works there. It seems he lives in a world of delusion in which he thinks he is legitimately employed by the company but allegedly lives in his grandmothers basement. If you see Sergio tell him he is doing a great job. Don't reveal the nature of his delusion because he may suffer from another emotionsl "blow out" as it were.

Poor management
July 15, 2024

Received a Ryobi hedge trimmer for a gift. Used 1 time and it stopped working. Took the item to Lebanon Homedepot to exchange or get credit for another hedge trimmer. The manager asked if I had the credit card used or a receipt. My answer is no because it was a gift. They had the same trimmer behind us and the items appearance was in beautiful condition. You could tell it had only been used once. The item is brand new evident from looking behind me there was a display of the same trimmers. The manager said she could not return the item because I had no proof of purchase. What! I don't want the money back I just want my defective trimmer replaced. She was argumentative and she wasn't going to exchange the item. I had to deal with the broken item myself. What if I had paid cash? Would that be the same reply and she said yes. In short Ryobi is their brand they sell, brand new item, no cash just a replacement and the manager says that's their policy in Lebanon Ohio. I called another store and they said it's the managers decision.

Glacier Bay faucet problems
July 10, 2024

Bought a glacier bay HD*******W faucet last year installed it in a bathroom that is not used much. Went to use it and the pipe that delivers the water was rusted shut. Seems like they used steel pipe for a faucet. Called the glacier bay support and they made me go though a bunch of taking pictures. After an hour they said the book picture did not look like the faucet picture so they would not do anything for me. My advice is to be very cautious buying Glacier bay products. Not sure where it was made but must be a country who doesent care about quality.

INCOMPETENT SALES AND DELIVERY STAFF!
July 7, 2024

On June 20, we purchased a refrigerator, ice maker, water hose and the removal of the old inoperative refrigerator from the Ukiah, CA Home Depot appliance department; Order number H8408-*******. We were told by the sales lady the order would be delivered June 22 and we would receive a call regarding the delivery time window on June 21st between 4pm and 9pm. When I didn't receive the call on the evening of Jun 21 regarding the delivery window, I called the Appliance Dept., that evening inquiring about my delivery. I was told the delivery couldn't be completed because the ice maker wouldn't be delivered until July 17 and had to be installed before shipping the refrigerator; Why did I have to make this call and why wasn't I told this at the time? The sales person suggested I cancel the order and place two new orders, one for the refrigerator and one for the ice maker, thus I could receive the refrigerator earlier and have the ice maker installed at a later date; Why wasn't I told this upfront? The new order CM******* was placed the next day Jun 22 and was scheduled for delivery Jun 26. We were told once again we would receive a phone call between the hours of 4pm-9pm with the delivery window times on Jun 25. Once again, when I didn't receive the delivery phone call, I called the Ukiah store that evening inquiring about the delivery and was told the refrigerator had been sold to another party and it would be rescheduled for delivery July 3 and I would receive a phone call the night before with the delivery window; Again, why did I have to make this call and why wasn't I told this at the time? July 2, once again after not receiving a phone call regarding the delivery window for the July 3 delivery I called the Ukiah store late that evening and the Appliance Dept., salesperson told me the delivery window would be July 3 9am-1pm and the delivery person would call one hour prior to his arrival; For the third time, why did I have to make this call? July 3,8am, I removed two doors and six pieces of heavy furniture to make room for the movement of the refrigerator's, old and new. When 1pm rolled around with no phone call from the delivery person, I called the Ukiah store and enquired about the lack of delivery: Why did I have to make this call!? After 20 minutes waiting on hold, I was told the delivery company forgot to put the refrigerator on the truck and the delivery would have to be rescheduled for the FOURTH time on July 6; THIS IS BEYOND ACCEPTABLE!

We have been without a working refrigerator since June 19 trying to keep our food fresh using ice chests. We kept approximately 50lbs of frozen foods covered with ice in anticipation of a new refrigerator/freezer by June 22; as promised by HOME DEPOT!

At 79 years old with bad knees and a bad back, I didn't find it too comforting to move several heavy pieces of heavy furniture and two doors to make way for a refrigerator that was not to come.

As of this writing, we have lost 50lbs of frozen food estimated at a cost of $300 and spent an additional $100 for ice to maintain our ice chests for refrigerated foods as well.

We have suffered a lot of anguish and put up with a lot of turmoil because of your incompetent staff. Trying to connect with a person by phone is next to impossible. I have spent easily a half hour per call waiting for a person to answer. After communicating my issue with that person, I had been transferred to another who "could not help me with my issue" and was eventually pushed off to someone else. I asked if they could put pressure on the delivery company to have my refrigerator delivered this afternoon, even if it meant the threat by Home Depot to change to another delivery company. Of course that was out of the question and the only delivery that could be made was July 6.

I wrote a review about a month ago about how I was followed around home depot in Laurel Maryland, instead of following hardworking customers around your store, you need to check internally for your theft issues, on the news the other day, I saw that up the road in Elkridge Maryland there was a storage unit full of tools and cordless tools, there is no way a customer took that amount of equipment without being seen, which leads me to think that the problem is from the inside, when the truck makes its delivery half of your supplies are going into your employees vehicles, just like the card skimmers at the 7/11, no one just came in the store and put them there without being seen, its done on the inside, its common sense, I walk in the door and this guy is on my heels, he's probably the one that's stealing, to take the heat off of you why not blame someone else, and I see its working, while they were following me someone was robbing you blind, and the so-called security guard standing there with his hands in his pockets doing nothing, you have people working at your stores that come from other countries where they don't have anything, all they know is to steal, that's who you have working for you, I work hard for my money and I won't be giving it to home depot any longer, I also will be letting other black professionals know what's been going on so they won't waste their money in a place that don't respect them. I don't have this problem at Lowes, I would give 0 stars if I could!

Do not order anything from Home Depot. I ordered a 4 ton minisplit for 5500 bucks they keep changing the dates of delivery, lie to me when I call them. Do not call back like they say they will, and will still not tel me a possible delivery date or where the unit is. Buyer beware.

Make too many mistakes
May 7, 2024

I often shopped at Home Depot stores or online for myself and my parents. The mistakes they have made thwarted me from patronizing.
I posted the short review moments ago thinking I was only allowed to write 100 words. Realizing that my assumption was wrong, I am now going to provide more detail so that people will know why I made the previous remarks. I will give only a few examples.

One time I ordered a set of washer-and-dryer. Home Depot delivered them to the house across the street from mine. I had to call Home Depot and went through a lot of hassle to get them redelivered.

Another time I ordered a quantity of marble for a bathroom. They were supposed to be delivered on a certain date. So I lined up the workmen to install the marble for the floor and walls. Home Depot did not deliver them that day. I went to customer service and confirmed another date. That was not an easy and smooth matter in itself. Home Depot did not deliver on the new date. I repeated the process and got a third date. This time they marble was delivered to the wrong address. Each time they made a mistake I not only lost time but lost money because the workmen charged me for wasting a day of their time each time I had to tell them that the materials did not arrive.
One other time was a GE washer/dryer combination. It arrived with factory defects and missing parts. I called them within a day. Their customer service representative gave me a great deal of hard time and defended their merchandise with her life. She said I had signed the receipt and admitted that the machine was in perfect condition. That really surprised and angered me because I had never signed any paper. Their delivery guys just dropped the machine in and took off quickly. They did not give me a chance to see if all the parts were included. This problem took me many phone calls and many visits to the store to talk with the person who took my order and the branch manager. It was a dreadful experience. After many back and forths dealing with Home Depot's people, they told me to contact GE. Why should I contact GE? I bought the machine from Home Depot.

There were too many incredible mistakes they made for me to enumerate.

Thanks
May 7, 2024

In the past, if I needed any type of tool or hardware, I naturally went to my local Home Depot in Gainesville, Florida. So when our refrigerator went out last Friday, I went on the internet to search for reviews on refrigerators and picked our favorite refrigerator. We then went to our Home Depot to purchase the one we picked out. We went straight to the appliance department and saw the one we wanted (with no help). We then went to the salesperson and waited about 5 minutes for her to finish talking to a fellow co-worker and told her we wanted to purchase a refrigerator. She finally got out of her chair to go get the tag off the one we chose. When she came back to her desk, I asked when could it be delivered? She looked it up on the computer and said "May 27" (23 days later) I asked nothing sooner? She said no and something about the warehouse. I looked at my wife sitting next to me trying to think about what to do. The sales lady started dancing in her chair, waving her hands and arms back and forth while wiggling her butt and the chair (check your video) and she asked "do you want it or not? I looked at my wife and said let's go to Lowes just down the road! This is where I want to THANK YOU and your saleslady. We went to Lowes and went to the appliance department where we were greeted by a very polite salesman and was asked if he could help us. We told him what we wanted and he led us to exactly what we wanted. A asked when could it be delivered, he said tomorrow (Saturday). I said great! Not only did we purchase the $2000 refrigerator, we applied for a Lowes credit card and from now on will do all our shopping at our local Lowes. THANKS!

DONT GET ANY SHIPPED-you won't get it
April 30, 2024

We needed a custom made (can't be bought in stores) butcher block for our new island. Ordered from Home Depot. 2 months later we reach out to them to find it as it was supposed to be delivered April 22. They apparently use a shipping company, which was never told to us…. And Home Depot lost the order after repeatedly telling us it was with the shipper. This is also the same problem a family member ran into. I'll be shopping at Lowe's from here on out.
