I booked through Spotahome in May 2025, paying service fees for a "Verified Landlord" (Daphne Friedrichs / Valencia City Roof Terrazas S. L.) and a property in Valencia (Av. Burjassot 228). What I got was an illegal subdivision without habitability certificates, no running water for days, and eventually criminal threats (48-hour extrajudicial eviction notice, threats to dispose of my belongings).
The situation escalated to the Policía Nacional (atestado 1821/26) and is now before a Juzgado de Instrucción (investigating judge) for coacciones (criminal coercion).
Spotahome's response? They silently delisted the landlord (profile now shows "0 properties"), proving they knew something was wrong, but never notified me as the affected tenant, violating DSA transparency obligations. When I contacted them, they ignored my emails for weeks. When I posted on Trustpilot, they replied within hours asking for my booking details "to help", I provided them, and then their corporate team claimed they "couldn't locate my reservation." Classic reputation theatre: act concerned in public, stonewall in private.
The market has already corrected this: The same landlord has been expelled from 7+ platforms (Flatio, Erasmusplay, Uniplaces, Rentberry, Listanza, Listedbuy) after independent verification of violations. But Spotahome? They refuse to refund service fees or admit wrongdoing, hiding behind "intermediary" excuses while profiting from illegal listings.
This isn't poor customer service, t's facilitation of acoso inmobiliario (tenant harassment). Spotahome verified a slumlord, took my money, and abandoned me when criminality emerged. Avoid at all costs.

Spotahome offered better options than the other platforms I consulted (such as Wunderflats, Housing Anywhere, Flatio, and ImmoScout24). The overall process was rather complex, but this was mostly due to the requirements of the real estate company for my flat.
